Woman Wearing Blanket; Protester's Gesture Offends Woman: Police Blotter

An elderly woman wrapped in a blanket caused concern for passersby and businesses on Pearl Road March 12.

She was first seen walking in circles outside Walmart about 9 a.m., but then got into a white car.

About 10:30 a.m., Arby's employees called to say a woman in a blanket was on her knees in the restroom. 

She declined to go to the hospital and said she was trying to get to Chicago, a report said. 

She showed up at Subway about 1:20 p.m., but the owner offered to tend to the woman and see about getting her on a bus.

At 11:45 p.m., employees at Bier Haus reported the woman had been sitting in the parking lot for three hours and were worried about her being out in the cold.

Police offered the woman a hotel room for the night, but she said she was with a man named John who was driving a white car.

Protester 'Wipes Her Face' at Woman

A woman called police March 13 after a teacher protester "wiped her face of tears at her."

A report said the woman was at her bank on Pearl Road when someone made a gesture like wiping tears off their face.

The same thing happened the day before, too.

The woman said she felt the gesture was racially motivated.

Police said the gesture was not an arrestable offense, but the woman wanted police to know she was offended by it.

A Doggie Message?

A Misty Lake Drive man told police that every couple weeks, someone puts a bag of dog feces on the back of his car.

He said it could be because he blocks the sidewalk when he parks in his driveway.

Police advised him to stop blocking the sidewalk and see if the mischief ends.

Man in Back Yard

A Trapper Trail resident spotted a man hiding in the back yard about noon March 14.

The resident asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for a friend's house, then ran away.

Suspicious Situation

A Fairfax Lane woman got uneasy when someone apparently entered her car while it was warming up.

She told police she started the car, then went back inside to finish getting ready. When she went back out, the interior light was on.

She then got worried someone had entered the house.

An officer walked through and found no one inside.

Strange Break-In

A woman reported her car was broken into when she came out from Red Lobster March 14 and found the window down.

There was nothing taken or disturbed in the car.

A report said it was not known how the window opened unless the woman accidentally bumped the button before she got out.
