Kimble's New Recycling Plant Sorts Out the Future

The waste removal and recycling company celebrated the opening of its new Twinsburg facility Monday

It's a stinky job and somebody's got to do it. But at least they're doing it in Twinsburg.

Kimble Companies celebrated the opening of its second recycling facility with a in Twinsburg Township on Monday.

President Keith Kimble said his company acquired the 8500 Chamberlin Road property in 2001 and had most of the building finished in 2007.

"It took us a few years to get the permits," Kimble said.

The facility might not have even come to Twinsburg had Scott Walter, the business development director, not taken a wrong turn.

"Just by chance we came down State Route 82 and turned on Chamberlin Road," Walter said. It was the right place at the right time.

"This is the perfect piece of property," Walter said.

What started as a small family business 63 years ago has grown into a common name in waste management over the years. And by adding a second recycling center to the region, Kimble hopes to make the area more eco-friendly.

"We want to make recycling a viable alternative to a landfill," Kimble said.

Currently his company only collects about six percent of recyclables; he wants to reach 50 percent in the future

But recycling isn't the only green solution the company is using.

The company now boasts a fleet of collection trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and a CNG fueling station. Kimble said these trucks are "cleaner, quieter and take advantage of Ohio's natural resources."

"We see that as a way of the future," he said.

Twinsburg Township Trustee Tom Schmidt, who supported the new facility for years, said adding a job-creating entity is great, but they want to trust who they're working with.

"We're really fortunate to do business with the Kimble Company," Schmidt said.

Kimble Recycling and Disposal recently replaced one of its former family corporations which occupied Twinsburg for many years.
