Meet the Friends of the Library Board

The Friends of the Library Board has an updated slate of officers and directors as follows: One year term: Pres. Tabby Ogrizek; VP Laura Bianchi; Treasurer Cindy Leonard; Recording Secy Carol Luckas; Corresponding Secy Diana Sekerak.

Three-year term: Directors Friends Shop (Books) Sylvia Bartlett; Friends Shop (Gifts) Fran Nugent; Publicity Charlotte Wike.

Nominations from the floor will be accepted at the September Annual Meeting, after which voting will take place to approve the slate.

The Suffragette - Our Certain Unalienable Right Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 pm Just in time for the elections, Katherine Kohl will present the story of women’s suffrage starting in Europe and then settling in Ohio with an emphasis on the Western Reserve area. Learn about the struggle of women to get the vote - which did not come free! Bring your daughters to hear about this fascinating time in American history. Refreshments courtesy of the Friends. On Aug. 18, at 10:30 a.m. the will host a very special presentation by . If you are aware of the classic book about the Japanese Internment during WWII, then Mr. Ezaki’s story will surely resonant with you. Eddie Ezaki was 9 years old when he and his family were interned in a hastily built camp in Arizona.. They were held there from shortly after Dec. 7, 1941 to after WWII. In one of the many ironies of World War II thousands of young men (Japanese Americans) from the camps volunteered to join combat infantry units and ended up wearing the same uniforms as the camp guards who kept their parents and siblings imprisoned.

Watch with library friends on the weekend of its DVD release. The movie will be showing on our big screen at 2 pm on Sunday, Aug. 19. Come 15 minutes early for popcorn, lemonade, iced tea and trivia games. The movie is 142 minutes long, so bringing a cushion for your seat is absolutely okay! The film is rated PG-13 so youth under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Family discussion guides will be available. Seating is limited, so please register online or call.

Registration for all Youth Programs is available on the Children’s Place webpage and the TeenCrossings webpage. Some events require separate registration for each date. Registration for Youth Programs begins two weeks prior to the event date. 24-hour advanced registration is available for Twinsburg School District Residents.
