5 Unbuckled Kids Found In Car During Westlake Traffic Stop: PD
Westlake police cited a driver after they found five unbuckled kids in his backseat.
WESTLAKE, OH — A routine traffic stop led to citations for a man that failed to buckle in five children, police said.
AT 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28, Westlake police stopped a car on First Street for a traffic violation. Officers spoke to the driver and noticed "evidence of drug use" inside the car. They also saw five children — ranging in age from 5 to 12 — in the backseat, all unbuckled.
A small amount of suspected cannabis was found inside the car, police said.

The driver asked another car to come pick up his kids, this time with proper child seats for the youngest passengers, a police spokesperson said. The kids were transferred into that vehicle.
The driver of the original car was cited for two counts of failing to use a child restraint system and one count of failure to wear a seat belt. Then everyone was allowed to leave, police said.
