The Westlake Service Department recently held a touching send-off for Administrative Assistant Maureen Murphy, who retired after more than 34 years serving the City of Westlake.

She began her career with the City as a floater in 1986 and was hired on full-time in 1988 as a dispatcher for the Service Department. She earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and supervisors for her tremendous work ethic and dedication to her position. 

Mayor Dennis M. Clough noted during the retirement ceremony that Maureen was among his first hires as Mayor and has proven to be one of his best hires as well. Mayor Clough also recognized Maureen's husband, Gary, for his pasty military service and for his support of Maureen's career with the City, which often involved long hours.

Service Director Paul Quinn praised her demonstrated commitment to the department, willingness to speak her mind, and grace under pressure during some of the department's most challenging situations.
