Walking the line: An intoxicated 35-year-old North Olmsted man used the double yellow line in the middle of Columbia Rd. as a would-be guide for his walk home on Aug. 26, to the consternation of motorists. He was arrested for DCI after generating phone calls and horn-honking.

Could have been shocking: A 24-year-old Bassett Rd. man was 4-wheeling around his yard on Aug. 28 in his 1992 Toyota 4x4 pickup. He lost control and got hung up on the guy wires which anchored a utility pole. This brought down the electric lines onto the truck and also a telephone/cable box nearby; the latter caught fire. He was cited for Willful and Wanton Disregard of Safety.

Used tires and drugs: Two men (28-year-old and 54-year-old of Eastlake and Lakewood respectively) were caught stealing used tires from a Dover Center Rd. business on Aug. 29. An employee of the firm that recycles the tires spotted them and called WPD. The younger man admitted to being a heroin addict; hypos, suspected heroin, and other dope instruments were recovered from the van the pair were in. The older man prefers crack, as indicated by the pipes found on his person and in the truck. The Eastlake man faces Breaking and Entering and drug charges; the Lakewood man was charged with Breaking and Entering, Drug Paraphernalia, and a felony used tire transporter violation. Both have been transferred to the county jail.

A 28-year-old and a 54-year-old of Eastlake and Lakewood respectively, were caught stealing used tires and possession of drug paraphernalia

Shotgun service: A 45-year-old Center Ridge Rd. man was arrested for Aggravated Menacing on Aug. 29. A 56-year-old Elyria man was at the residence to serve legal papers on another person. The suspect told him to leave and displayed a 12-gauge shotgun, but did not point it at the victim. The firearm was seized as evidence.

Kind of like an ATM: An ex-employee of a vending machine company stole a set of keys and has been helping himself to the cash they contained. The company owner estimates that $3,000 was taken from 6 machines on Aug. 30 at a Viking Pkwy. business.

Shoplifting while stoned: A 36-year-old Solon woman stole $257 worth of merchandise from a Detroit Rd. store on Sept. 1. She was located in the parking lot with a joint and marijuana grinder. She was arrested for Petty Theft, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Smash and grab: A Bay Village womanโ€™s 2015 Chevrolet Traverse had the driver side rear window broken out on Sept 2. while she was inside a Columbia Rd. business. Her purse containing credit cards, $60 cash, an IPod, and headphones was taken.

eBay fraud: A Bradley Rd. woman sold a pair of boots on eBay for $320 on 8-17-16. A payment confirmation she received was later found to be phony; she reported the fraud on Sept. 2.

Dysfunctional social media: A New York woman called Westlake Police on Sept. 2 to report that her 32-year-old sister had been assaulted by her 44-year-old live-in boyfriend at their Westford Cr, home. Both were found to be intoxicated on alcoholic beverages and marijuana. The woman had a broken nose, but refused transportation. The male was arrested for Domestic Violence. They had met on social media; the woman and her 7-year-old daughter moved in with him a month ago.
