YMCA Starts West Side Autism Support Group

Group will meet the first Saturday of every month; will serve west side of Cleveland.

In 2012 the YMCA surveyed members and found that families affected by Autism were in need of support. The staff at the French Creek Family YMCA answered the call with the development of their own Autism Support Group, the only group of its kind on the west side of Cleveland.ย

โ€œAfter speaking with many families who were impacted by Autism, I did some research and found there to be more options east of Cleveland, but choices were very limited in our area,โ€ Kristin Pullin, Membership Service Director for the French Creek Family YMCA, said. โ€œIt was a service we thought we could provide to both our members and the community.โ€

This peer-led group meets the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. and is open to members of both the YMCA and community. Topics discussed include tips from other families and guest speakers who specialize in related fields. The meetings are free and suggestions are welcome.
