Oklahoma is home to dedicated first responders who go above and beyond to keep their communities safe. That’s why Patch and T-Mobile have teamed up to spotlight EMTs, firefighters and police officers who are making a difference every day.

Officer Tucker Halstead (Ada) — Officer Tucker Halstead of the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department was recently honored for his heroic actions during a February 2024 apartment fire in Ardmore. Halstead scaled a second-story balcony to rescue a woman and child trapped inside, then assisted other officers in evacuating the building. His bravery earned him multiple commendations, including the Chickasaw Lighthorse Lifesaving Award and a nomination for Oklahoma Officer of the Year. His quick thinking and courage helped prevent what could have been a devastating tragedy. Read more here.

Senior Patrol Officer Steven Judson (Fletcher) — Senior Patrol Officer Steven Judson went above and beyond in a child neglect case involving three vulnerable children. After leading the investigation, Judson and his wife—both certified foster parents—welcomed the children into their home for several weeks to ensure their safety. For this act of compassion and service, In December 2024, Judson received the General Commendation Medal from the American Police Hall of Fame for dedication to protecting children, which extended far beyond the call of duty. Officer Jose Botello (Guthrie) — Officer Jose Botello of the Guthrie Police Department was named Officer of the Year at the 2024 Heroes in the Heartland Conference. Recognized for his work mentoring fellow officers, assisting firefighters and advancing training in domestic violence response, Botello is known for his collaborative spirit and professional excellence. With eight years on the force, he consistently exemplifies leadership and service across departments. His commitment to public safety continues to inspire those around him. Read more here.

Captain Chris Allbritton (Yukon) — Captain Chris Allbritton of the Yukon Fire Department was named OG&E’s March 2025 Safety Partner Award recipient for his leadership and dedication to community safety. The award, presented in partnership with the Oklahoma City Thunder, honors first responders who go above and beyond in service, integrity and public well-being. Allbritton’s tireless efforts were celebrated by his department and at a Thunder game, shining a spotlight on his lasting impact in Yukon and beyond. Read more here.


Deputy Austin Murray (Bryan County) — In December 2024, Deputy Austin Murray was named Oklahoma’s inaugural Officer of the Year for his heroic actions during a shootout in Bryan County. Murray was responding to a domestic call and was shot three times while rescuing a mother and her daughters from an armed suspect. Despite his injuries, he maintained composure, neutralized the threat and ensured the victims’ safety. His bravery and selflessness earned statewide recognition and praise from the Oklahoma Attorney General. Read more here.
