📰 News we're reading

• Masked person captured on camera kicking down Midwest City mom's door (kfor.com) — A Midwest City mother says a masked person kicked in her front door near Midwest City High School around 2 a.m. Sunday, all caught on her home security cameras. She’s filed a report with Midwest City Police and shared the video with nearby schools, worried it could be part of a dangerous “door kick challenge” and hoping someone can help identify who’s responsible.

• Vote for Landmark Fine Homes boys HS athlete of the week for Dec. 8-14 (oklahoman.com) — A standout week from Midwest City Bomber Deshawn Denson II has earned him a nomination for The Oklahoman’s boys high school athlete of the week poll, after he averaged 27 points, 12 rebounds and three steals at Norman’s Joe Lawson Tournament. Midwest City readers can vote online through Sunday, alongside other top performers from football, basketball, swimming and wrestling across Oklahoma.

• Norman city leaders discuss proposal for increasing ‘hotel tax' (news9.com) — Norman officials are weighing another increase to their hotel room tax, partly because nearby Oklahoma City and Midwest City have already raised theirs above 9%. While the proposal mainly affects Norman visitors, Midwest City residents may notice how regional hotel taxes are climbing and how that could influence where guests stay and spend money around the metro.
