Council also advanced hospital board changes, discussed raising the hotel room tax, weighed a countywide economic development deal, and honored local human-rights and arts leaders with strong ties to Norman.

Bratton receives second Coach of the Year honor by GCAA (golfoklahoma.org) β€” Norman sports fans might like knowing that Oklahoma State men’s golf coach Alan Bratton was just named the national Dave Williams Coach of the Year for the second time. The honor follows OSU’s 12th national championship and a dominant season that included five straight late-season wins and standout performances from several sophomore golfers.

OU alum, former Norman teacher receives Grammy nomination for best choral performance (oudaily.com) β€” A longtime Norman High and West Mid-High music teacher, Patti Drennan, has earned a Grammy nomination for her choral album β€œRequiem of Light,” and was formally recognized by Norman City Council for her impact on local music education. The project, created with help from her daughter and notable Grammy-winning collaborators, weaves themes of grief, faith, and family into a nine-movement a cappella work produced in just seven weeks.

In Depth: Dozens of Oklahoma CDL providers shut down by USDOT, dozens more put on notice (fox23.com) β€” Federal transportation officials have flagged Norman-based American Heritage Trucking and the City of Norman’s Traffic Control Division for possible removal as CDL providers if they don’t fix compliance issues.
