The Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 28 to present research recommendations to Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough.
According to Regents Professor Dr. Carey Pope, who serves on the committee, recommendations will focus on key areas of research including possible connections with long COVID-19. Other recommendations will emphasize understanding related war-time exposures as well as strategies to improve outcomes and continued engagement with veterans and their families.

The Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses provides advice and makes recommendations to the secretary of veterans affairs on proposed research studies, plans and strategies related to understanding and treating the health consequences of military service in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the 1990 – 1991 Gulf War.
