PRESS RELEASE: Applications open for 2026 Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy from OKDHS (freepressokc.com) — If you’re passionate about advocating for older adults, applications are open now for the 2026 Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy, which will hold most of its in-person sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Oklahoma City. The free program runs February through August 2026, offers possible travel support, and trains participants in services like respite care, transportation assistance, and other aging-related resources.
   

2. Oklahoma Teen, Lawmaker Team Up to Eliminate Sales Tax on Diaper (kfor.com) — A 16-year-old Girl Scout from Oklahoma City is teaming up with Rep. Emily Gise to push a bill that would remove Oklahoma’s state sales tax on diapers, inspired by her work at Infant Crisis Services in the city. Their proposal, HB 2935, aims to ease costs for families statewide, even as lawmakers weigh tight budget constraints.
   

3. Oklahoma is one step closer to creating business courts (news9.com) — State leaders meeting in Oklahoma City are pushing ahead with plans for specialized business courts in Oklahoma and Tulsa counties, despite a state Supreme Court ruling that struck down the original law. A task force has unanimously submitted a new framework to the governor, legislature, and judiciary, aiming to ease case backlogs and give businesses and other litigants more certainty statewide.
