- Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said gun violence needs to be transformed. Many other law enforcement officers throughout the country agree with him and are calling for stricter gun laws in the wake of regularly occurring mass shootings. According to KMUW, "Tulsa also happens to be in the list of the top 50 cities with the most gun violence. Franklin said, 'Here we are today where we've recognized that we have some issues that need to be addressed, and we are operating as though everything is normal, and I don't think everything is normal.'" - It could be a dangerous next couple of days in the area. Power outages combined with high hear advisories could create the perfect storm for many. According to Newson6.com, "EMSA announced its first Medical Heat Alert of 2023 for the Tulsa area on Monday. They said the alert will remain in effect through at least Saturday, June 24. John 3:16 will be operating a cooling station from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at its facilities located at 906 North Cheyenne Ave. and 2134 North Madison Place. The Salvation Army will be operating a cooling station from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at its facility located at 102 North Denver Ave. Tulsa County Social Services will have a cooling center open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 2301 Charles Page Blvd. [And the] First Baptist Church Tulsa is providing a cooling station running until Friday. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes AC, water, charging stations and an indoor recreation area. The gym entrance to the church is located on 4th Street between Cincinnati and Detroit." (Newson6.com)
- Are you a Nickelback fan? The band is set to visit Tulsa a part of its "Get Rollin' Tour" in September. Reportedly, their stop at the Bok Center will be accompanied by special guests Brantley Gilbert and Josh Ross. Tickets are on sale now. (news9.com KWTV)
