Good afternoon,
In preparation for the expected weather tomorrow, we wanted to be sure that you know that we are working closely with the National Weather Service and the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency to monitor weather conditions. Based on the current forecast, we can anticipate 1-3 inches of snowfall through most of the county with the higher totals being in the northern portions of the county. There is no ice accumulation forecasted for our area that could create unsafe situations for travel or students walking.Â

Given the current forecasted conditions, we plan to be in school in person tomorrow, Friday, March 11. We will continue to be in contact with the National Weather Service, Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency, and the City of Tulsa to assess any changes in conditions overnight, and will provide an update no later than 5am tomorrow, Friday, March 11. Our commitment is to carefully consider the safety of your family and our team along with the critical need for our students to be in school in person.Â
We also plan to continue to serve seven days’ worth of snack and supper meals free of charge tomorrow from 11am to 1pm at the former Grimes Elementary building (3213 E. 56th St.) for the days that classes are not in session for the district’s spring break next week. If conditions do not allow our team to safely serve meals tomorrow, we will reschedule this meal pass out to early next week.Â
We make those inclement weather announcements through:
-
Email and text message to our team members and families;
Posts on our website and on our Facebook and Twitter pages; and
Updates to local television and radio outlets.
We encourage you to take the following precautions tomorrow morning:
-
Limit the amount of time spent outside and exposed to the temperatures;
-
Use caution while driving;
If students ride the bus, have them wait for it with you inside a warm vehicle;
Layer appropriate and available clothing that will provide insulation against the wind and cold and that can be removed in layers as the day warms;
Keep your student well-hydrated and try to avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages; and
Ensure proper sleep to help assist your student’s immune system.
For assistance with clothing, shelter, utility payments or other resources and services, you can contact 211 Eastern Oklahoma by phone at 2-1-1 or by texting your zip code to 898-211.
