Man Attacks Roommate With Hatchet And Bat In Corvallis: Police
Steven Anderson allegedly attacked his roommate Monday morning following some kind of dispute. The roommate was not injured, police said.

CORVALLIS, OR — A domestic dispute nearly turned deadly Monday when a Corvallis man attacked his roommate with a hatchet and baseball bat, according to Corvallis police.
Steven Michael Anderson, 46, was taken to Benton County Jail following his arrest. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and attempted assault. His bail is set at $87,500.
Corvallis police officers were reportedly dispatched to a "disturbance in progress" at an apartment in the 2000-block of Southwest Third Street just before 10 a.m. April 30.

The 911 caller told dispatchers that Anderson was chasing someone with a hatchet and bat, which he also reportedly threw — narrowly missing his intended target.
Investigators learned Anderson had been in some kind of argument with his unidentified roommate before going to his room and arming himself with the blunt weapons.

Anderson then chased his roommate outside and threatened him with the weapons before throwing them. The threatened roommate was reportedly uninjured in the incident.
When officers arrived, Anderson retreated back into the apartment and initially refused to come out. After a time, Anderson voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
