Oregon COVID-19 Case Decline Not Fast Enough To Save Everyone
The Oregon Health Authority says that the deaths of 57 more Oregonians were reported on Tuesday.
ACROSS OREGON, OR — There is no question that the number of cases related to COVID-19 in Oregon, along with the number of people waking up each morning in the hospital are both on the way down. Several forecasts said that the omicron-driven surge that has gripped the state for months would be fading away.
And all the evidence is that is what is happening.
While that is the case, it offers little solace to the families and friends of the 57 Oregonians whose deaths were reported Wednesday by the Oregon Health Authority.

The state says that brings the total number of Oregonians who have died since the pandemic began to 6,322.
Meanwhile, the state said that on Tuesday, 3,309 more cases were reported, bringing the total to 668,783.

OHA said that on Wednesday, 1,042, 13 fewer than the day before. Of those, 168 were in intensive care units, 22 fewer than the day before.
As for the 3,309 new cases, officials say that they were spread across 35 of the state's 36 counties.
