Oregon COVID-19 Cases Drop Below 1,000 For Three Straight Days

The Oregon Health Authority says that the total cases over the four-day holiday weekend was just 3,400.

SALEM, OR — The omicron-driven surge of COVID-19 might not be over but the news is getting better. The Oregon Health Authority said Tuesday that over the 3-day holiday weekend plus last Friday, Oregon only saw a total of 3,400 new cases.

That was 1,379 cases on Friday, 794 cases on Saturday, 494 cases on Sunday, and 733 new cases on Monday.

OHA says that hospitalizations are also down.

The state says that on Tuesday 597 Oregonians woke up in the hospital, down 40 from the day before. Of the 597 in the hospital, 109 of them were in intensive care units across the state, also a decline.

There were also 29 new deaths over the weekend, bringing the total number of Oregonians who have died in the pandemic to 6,485.

As for the new cases, OHA says that they were spread across 32 of the state's 36 counties.
