Oregon Man Survived On Taco Sauce For 5 Days Trapped In Snow
Stray taco sauce packets sustained Oregon man and his dog trapped for five days in the snow with his dog.

SUNRIVER, OR — Taco sauce isn’t typically listed among items to include in a winter driving survival kit, but Jeremy Taylor, of Sunriver, Oregon, is glad he had some packets for a fast-food restaurant in his SUV. He and his dog, Ally, survived on them for five days while they were stranded in the snow.
Taylor, 36, and Ally set off on an off-roading adventure on Sunday, Feb. 24, and didn’t return when they were expected. By Wednesday, Feb. 27, concern turned to worry and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office posted a notice on Facebook asking residents to be on the lookout for him.
A snowmobile rider spotted the SUV on Friday afternoon.

They were in “good condition, but hungry after being stuck in the snow for five days.”
Taylor and Ally spent the night of Feb . 24-25 in the SUV, but awoke to more snow and the SUV refused to budge from its spoton Forest Service Road 40 near Wake Butte, which is located west of Sunriver. They set out on foot, but the snow was so deep that walking was difficult and they turned back.

Taylor told authorities that he started his SUV off and on over the next few days for warmth and used a few taco packets as food.
“Let’s never do that again,” Taylor wrote on Facebook, adding that “Taco Bell Fire Sauce saves lives.”
People expressed their concern and gratitude that the pair are OK. One woman wrote that she feels much better about stray condiment packages that end up in her car, others wondered if an endorsement deal with Taco Bell is coming and one woman, who said Taylor was at an age he could be her son, gave Taylor a finger wagging for putting his and his dog’s lives in danger.
Most comments were positive, though.
“Don't let the haters posting rude comments get to you,” one person wrote. “I can't even imagine your thought process through your 5 days. Fear, regret, acceptance, humility, life thoughts, family, friends, etc. People can judge, but as long as YOU grew from this experience, I say, write a book about it! Glad you are safe home with your fur baby Allie.”
