Oregon Mother Stabs Child 6 Times: Police

When confronted by police for allegedly stabbing her 6-year-old boy, Nemoria Villagomez said, "He deserved it." The boy is expected to live.

NEWPORT, OR — Police in Newport last weekend arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her 6-year-old son half a dozen times. The boy was taken to Legacy Emanuel in Portland by Life Flight and is reportedly in good condition.

Nemoria Lynn Villagomez was lodged at Lincoln County Jail following her arrest. Her numerous charges include attempted murder, assault, strangulation, and criminal mistreatment.

Newport police began investigating the stabbing at the Agate Height Apartments after Villagomez's neighbor called 911 to request emergency medical care for Villagomez's 6-year-old son at 6 p.m. May 26.

Bleeding profusely from his body and face, the boy reportedly told his neighbor that his mother tried to kill him before he ran next door for help.

Emergency responders were already on scene when the first Newport officer arrived, according to court documents obtained by Patch. The officer was immediately informed that Villagomez likely had an infant with her still inside the apartment.

Approaching Villagomez's apartment, the officer noted a trail of blood from Villagomez's door to the neighbor's — where the boy ran for help.

Out of an abundance of concern for the infant's safety, the officer announced himself and went inside the apartment. There he reportedly found a large pool of blood on a coffee table along with a bloodied kitchen steak knife. Blood smears were also visible on the walls, the officer reported.

Repeatedly asking if anyone was home but receiving no response, the officer searched the apartment and found Villagomez in a bedroom, laying on a bed with the 14-month-old infant boy. Both were reportedly covered in blood.

The officer arrested Villagomez without incident and got the uninjured infant to emergency medical responders for evaluation, Newport authorities said. The infant has since been placed with the Department of Human Services.

Speaking with detectives after her arrest, Villagomez reportedly admitted to stabbing her son six times in total — possibly puncturing his liver and one lung — stating, "He deserved it."

This is Villagomez's third assault arrest since 2009 and her second since 2016, in which she was apparently convicted of assaulting the 14-month-old infant's father.

The fathers of both Villagomez's boys also own prolific criminal records of their own.

Villagomez is scheduled to be in a Lincoln County courtroom June 5.
