Oregon's Cannon Beach Named Top Beach

OREGON -- A small coastal town in northwest Oregon made Forbes magazine's list of top beaches in the world. The list, which was released Monday, named Cannon Beach the 50th best beach in the world. It's the only beach in the continental U.S. included on the list.

Less than two hours away from Portland, Cannon Beach is known for its Haystack Rock, a marine sanctuary that stands 235 feet tall on the water.

"The Pacific Northwest’s most majestic creation is Cannon Beach, in Oregon," the magazine writes. "Majestic rocks soar far above the picturesque coastline while the watercolor sky paints the sea in vibrant shades of blues and teals throughout the day."

Of course, the beach was also made famous by the beloved 1980s movie "Goonies,"an adventure comedy where two young boys search for a treasure.
