You'll Never Guess Oregon's Most Googled Celebrities

Ever wonder if your fellow Oregonians are Googling the same celebrities, athletes, musicians, and politicians as you are?

ACROSS OREGON – We've all been there – when a celebrity rumor is just a little too juicy, you throw on your trench coat, put on your detective hat, and Google to your heart's desire. Is Kylie Jenner really pregnant? Is Justin Timberlake nervous about a second Super Bowl nip slip? The rumor mill perpetually turns, and thus the celebrity Google searches do too.

If you've ever wondered which celebrities, musicians, and politicians get Googled the most, or if your fellow Oregonians are just as obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence as you are, this Dana Rebecca Designs study is here to answer your questions.

The top 10 most Googled celebrities nationwide are:

  1. Kim Kardashian
  2. Kylie Jenner
  3. Brad Pitt
  4. Angelina Jolie
  5. Bella Thorne
  6. Emma Watson
  7. Jennifer Aniston
  8. Kendall Jenner
  9. Khloe Kardashian
  10. Scarlett Johansson

While the entire country is under the Kardashian spell, Oregon couldn't care less. Our most Googled celebrity is Holly Madison. The model is a former Playboy Bunny, New York Times best-selling author, and actress on reality television show The Girls Next Door. Curiosity may kill the cat, but it'll never kill Google.

Although it's the Super Bowl, the most Googled athlete is surprisingly not a football player. However, the list has a nice variety of boxers, basketball players, football players and more. Only one woman – professional wrestler Ronda Roussey – made the national list of most Googled athletes.

The top 10 most Googled athletes nationwide are:

  1. Conor McGregor
  2. Lebron James
  3. Tom Brady
  4. Stephen Curry
  5. Kyrie Irving
  6. OJ Simpson
  7. Ronda Roussey
  8. Tiger Woods
  9. Kevin Durant
  10. Floyd Mayweather

Oregon's most Googled athlete doesn't appear on the top 10 list, but he's played for a Portland team. It's Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers athlete. Originally from Oakland, Calif., he's played for the Oregon team since 2012.

Googling musicians may make more sense than Googling celebrities or athletes – "when is the new album coming out, and when are they coming to perform in my city?" are all practical and fair questions to ask the search engine.

The top 10 most Googled musicians nationwide are:

  1. Ariana Grande
  2. Lady Gaga
  3. Selena Gomez
  4. Beyonce
  5. Justin Bieber
  6. Taylor Swift
  7. Nicki Minaj
  8. Rihanna
  9. Kanye West
  10. Mariah Carey

Again, Oregon couldn't care less about national trends. Our most Googled celebrity is Joss Stone, an English singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame in 2003 with her debut album, The Soul Sessions, which went multi-platinum and made the 2004 Mercury Prize shortlist. In Nov. 2017, Stone was co-headliner in Night of the Proms in Nederland and Belgium.

In the midst of one of the most contentious political climates in the country's history, the list of most-Googled politicians is unsurprising. The 2016 election was an emotional, tumultuous time in the United States and the list reflects that – over half of the politicians in the top 10 were key players in the last election.

The top 10 most Googled politicians nationwide are:

  1. Donald Trump
  2. Hillary Clinton
  3. Barack Obama
  4. Bernie Sanders
  5. Mike Pence
  6. Bill Clinton
  7. John McCain
  8. Paul Ryan
  9. Elizabeth Warren
  10. Joe Biden

However, Oregonians were more interested in the salacious storyline of Anthony Weiner, the former Democratic New York congressman caught up in multiple sexting scandals. In 2011, he sent an explicit picture of himself to a woman on his public Twitter account, and in 2013 he sent more graphic photos to a 22-year-old. In 2016, Daily Mail reported that Weiner sexted with a 15-year-old – he was sentenced to 21 months in prison in Sept. 2017.

So it's official, Oregon doesn't follow national trends. Our most Googled public figures are Holly Madison, Damian Lillard, Joss Stone, and Anthony Weiner. To read more about the study, see Dana Rebecca Designs.
