  1. The Beaverton School District says that 17 classrooms are quarantined due to possible COVID-19 exposure. Nearly 700 students are now isolated or in quarantine just two weeks after classes started full-time in-person, a first since March 2020. The district says 113 students are being isolated because they've tested positive for COVID-19, and more than 550 students are in quarantine. (KPTV.com)
  2. The Garden Home Community Library will be hosting a Silent Dance Party at 7:00pm on Sept. 23. The event is free for all ages, no registration required. Bring your own music and enjoy a silent dance party outdoors at the field at Garden Home Recreation Center. (Beaverton Patch)
  3. A Beaverton soccer team knelt during the national anthem in protest against Newberg High School. The Southridge High School girls soccer team knelt in solidarity with Newberg's black students. The protest comes after weeks of controversy for the school- during which a Newberg High School student was revealed to be part of a racist Snapchat group, the local school board continued its pursuit of a ban on Black Lives Matter and Pride imagery, and a school employee showed up to work in blackface. 4. Gresham police arrested a suspect in a Walmart shooting that killed 38-year-old Portland man, Dashawn Hudson, on Monday. Daniel Hipshman, 26, of Portland was arrested early Wednesday and booked at the Multnomah County Detention Center. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart at 3900 W. Powell Blvd. at about 6 p.m. (OregonLive)
  5. Beginning early next month, Portland students whose parents give approval will receive COVID tests weekly, regardless of whether they have symptoms. Despite funding from the federal government, the launch of surveillance testing comes six months after money was allocated. Portland Public Schools attributes the delay in part to when information was provided to the district by OHSU and the Oregon Health Authority. (Willamette Week)
