Accused Sex Trafficker Arrested In New Jersey; Will Be Extradited

BEAVERTON, OR — A federal grand jury in Portland, Oregon, last week indicted James Keenan of Vancouver, Washington, following a month-long investigation into child sex trafficking.

Keenan, 47, was arrested in Hazlet, New Jersey, on Wednesday and charged with sex trafficking of a child, attempted sex trafficking of a child, and attempted enticement.

The Beaverton Police Department and FBI Child Exploitation Task Force will continue investigating this case, according to Beaverton police spokesman Jeremy Shaw.

The underage victim in the case will continue to receive recovery services, he said.

Calls to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office in New Jersey were not immediately returned.

Shaw told Patch that due to the ongoing investigative nature of the case, BPD can only share limited information at this time. However, he did say Keenan will be extradited back to Portland where he will stand trial in federal court.
