Beaverton House Fire Sends 1 To Hospital, Forces School Out Early

One person was injured jumping from a second story window. Mountain View Middle School students were sent home early.

BEAVERTON, OR — As the smoke and flames closed in, a person jumped from a window on the second floor of a town home on Britetree Circle on Tuesday. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue says that the person was rushed to Legacy Emanuel with injuries from the jump.

The fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. and led many in the area to call 911.

Mountain View Middle School in the Beaverton School District, which is next door to the home, sent students and staff home early because the smoke was becoming overwhelming.

Only the one injury was reported but firefighters investigated whether there was a second person in the home. As of late Tuesday, they had found no indication that a second person was there.

Hillsboro Fire, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and MetroWest Ambulance all assisted.

The fire took about one hour to bring under control.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
