Applications are due Sunday, Mar. 13.

Beaverton’s boards and commissions play a critical role in supporting city functions and advising the City Council and Mayor on a variety of issues and topics. All are essential to incorporating the community’s voice in city decision-making on topics like city budgeting (Budget Committee); advocating for bicycle transportation (Bicycle Advisory Committee); advising on issues related to human rights (Human Rights Advisory Commission); supporting our libraries (Library Advisory Board); funding local social services organizations (Social Services Funding Committee); or addressing traffic-related concerns and projects within the city (Traffic Commission).

Serving on a Beaverton board or commission is a great way to actively participate in local government and make a difference in our community.

“Beaverton’s Boards and Commissions are leadership groups appointed to represent the diverse voices, needs, and desires of the community,” said Mayor Beaty. “There’s never been a better time to get involved and effect real change.”

Openings exist on all the above-referenced boards and commissions for midterm appointments. Members will be recommended by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Terms will begin in May 2022.

While technical experience is not required for any board or commission, residency is required to serve on the Budget Committee, Social Services Funding Committee and Traffic Commission.

The Human Rights Advisory Commission will host a social hour at the BG Food Cartel outdoor patio on Thursday, Mar. 10 at 6 p.m. for interested community members to meet current board members and learn about their recent activities.
