- The Beaverton School District launched a new dashboard to help parents keep track of COVID-19 cases in their student’s school. The new online tool includes data on positive or presumptive cases and quarantines for both students and staff. The data is collected by school nurses and health assistants in Washington County and will be updated 8 times a day. (KATU)
- The City of Beaverton welcomed its newest hotel, the AC Hotel by Marriott. The new property is located next to the new Element by Westin. The hotel also features 1,225 square feet of total event space, which includes two event rooms and a maximum of five breakout rooms. (Washington County Visitors Association)
- The City Of Beaverton is now accepting applications for community members to serve on a variety of boards and commissions. The mayor says, "we are actively recruiting community members who can provide diverse perspectives, social networks, and expertise around the City's work." Members will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council for up to a three-year term, beginning in January 2022. (Press Release Desk)
- A judge ruled that Portland police officers’ filming and live streaming at protest events in 2020 violated Oregon law. The American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon filed a lawsuit last year against the city of Portland for the Portland Police Bureau’s habit of livestreaming footage of protesters for use internally and in feeds to the public. The Multnomah County Circuit Court determined that the practice violated state law and a 1988 agreement between the ACLU of Oregon and the Portland Police Bureau. (KOIN.com)
- The man who walked through Portland’s downtown in August with an airsoft rifle has plead guilty to menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. 23-year-old Mark Allen Lee was sentenced to two years of probation on the menacing charge, a misdemeanor, with a list of conditions, including the order that he possess no guns, airsoft weapons or bear spray. Lee caused public alarm on Aug. 8 as he walked through downtown streets holding the rifle after right-wing and left-wing demonstrators clashed earlier at a gathering in Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
