Stolen BSD iPads Recovered By THPRD Employee

The 39 iPads and 2 projectors that were stolen from Westview High School in early February were found in Rock Creek this week.

BEAVERTON, OR — A Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District employee on Monday found the stolen electronics taken from three Westview High School classrooms in early February.

The electronics valued at more than $15,000 were found in a garbage bag on property in Rock Creek, near Northwest Rock Creek Boulevard and Northwest Rock Creek Drive in Portland, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The recovered electronics were returned to the Beaverton School District where district officials will check them for any damage, police said, noting no suspect information is currently available.

School district officials reported the burglary Feb. 5 after learning 39 student iPads and two classroom projectors were taken from three separate classroom portables at 4200 N.W. 185th Ave. in Beaverton sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight Feb. 3. Law enforcement has not released any surveillance footage.

The iPads are all "generation 3" and worth about $400 each, police said, noting the district used security software to disable the devices — effectively rendering them useless, which might explain why they were ditched in the wooded area off the Rock Creek Trail.
