Hannah Pet Hospital Settles Federal Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

A former nurse at Hannah's Pet Hospital in Tigard will receive $43,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit.

BEAVERTON, OR β€” A nurse who worked at Hannah's Pet Hospital in Tigard, will receive $43,000 from the hospital to settle allegations that she was sexually harassed by a veterinarian there.

The settlement was announced by the U.S. Equal Employment Commission, which had filed a federal lawsuit on the nurse's behalf.

The EEOC said the vet told the nurse and other women things like, "Shut up, woman," and "stupid woman." After complaints were filed, Hannah's didn't do anything to fix the situation, they added.

"This young woman's courage to file a charge with the EEOC helped put a stop to the harassment and will make this workplace safer for female employees in the future," EEOC Senior Trial Attorney Carmen Flores, said.

"The EEOC will aggressively investigate, and, if necessary, prosecute employers that violate the rights of their employees, particularly when the alleged harasser exploits a power differential to target a worker who is more junior and subordinate."
