Motorcyclist Dies From Injuries Sustained In 2-Vehicle Crash

Michael Jones reportedly stole a motorcycle from San Francisco then crashed it into a BMW after running a red light in Beaverton Wednesday.

BEAVERTON, OR — A motorcyclist died from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Beaverton on Wednesday, police announced Friday morning.

Riding a 2011 Yamaha R1, Michael Robert Jones, 29, ran a red light at Southwest Walker Road and Southwest Murray Boulevard and smashed into a 2014 BMW 535 that was turning left from the northbound lanes on Murray.

The BMW driver was unhurt, police said; Jones was taken to Legacy Emanuel, where he later died.

The motorcycle Jones was riding was reported stolen in San Francisco on March 31.

Jones had recently moved to Oregon from California, police said.
