Here are the top stories today in Beaverton:
- The Washington County Sheriff's Office released more information on the disappearance of an individual on Hagg Lake Monday afternoon. Rescue workers resumed their search Tuesday morning, discovering a body around 11 a.m. that was identified as the missing individual. The swimmer's name and cause of death have not yet been released. - Beaverton's Mayor Lacey Beaty played an important role in helping get an Oregon bill passed to give more people access to portable AC units. The legislation, SB 1536, prevents landlords from banning portable AC units, although many types, including contentious window units, may be exceptions. The bill originated as a response to nearly 100 deaths associated with the devastating heat dome in June 2021. (KGW.com)
- An ammonia leak prompted evacuations in Forest Grove on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at Lineage Logistics, forcing responders to close 24th Avenue between Yew Street and Quince Street. The area was reopened Tuesday afternoon when Hazmat workers cleared the scene. (KPTV.com)
- The void left by the closing of Bargarten in the Cedar Hills area will be swiftly filled with an incoming Elephants Delicatessen. The new eatery will offer grab-and-go items and a market as well as a dine-in option. Elephants' opening is tentatively set for 2023. (Willamette Week)

From my notebook:
- City of Beaverton has a request: Could ya'll stop wish-cycling sunblock tubes? (That was requested very lovingly, don't get me wrong.) Those squishy plastic containers aren't recyclable, and neither are aerosol sunscreen sprays. Read what the professionals have to say via Twitter.
- Thought I'd share a fun take on our recent weather from Portland's own journal of satire, The Scallion. Fun fact about me: Always Beanie Guy was literally on my list of Top Ten Reasons To Leave Portland For Beaverton back in 2015. Right up there with guy-who-dresses-like-a-lumberjack-but-is-actually-a-CPA and the fact that I'm not particularly a nude cycling enthusiast.
Alrighty, you're all good for today! I'm off to decide whether I'm the sort of person who buys a paddle board. See you tomorrow for another update.
