  1. A Hillsboro man died by drowning on Monday while paddleboarding at Frenchman's Bar Park in Vancouver. The 30-year-old man, whose identity has not yet been released by Vancouver authorities, fell off his paddleboard around 4 p.m. Rescue swimmers attempted to assist, but they were unable to reach the individual in time to save him.   2. The Washington County Fair is set to return this Friday, July 22. This year, you can anticipate all the essential fair foods, rides, animals and fun, including a goat milking contest, music headliner Mark Wills and an ever-popular petting zoo. The fair is located at the Westside Commons in Hillsboro and will run through July 31. (Pamplin Media Group, subscription)
  3. There's an ice cream giveaway coming our way soon. Salt & Straw will fete its newest location in Cedar Hills with free ice cream for the first 100 customers, starting at 11 a.m. this Friday, July 22. The chain's newest location also boasts a splash pad and fire pit! (Willamette Week)
  4. Also incoming to Beaverton (and Washington County in general) is a week celebrating cocktails, commencing July 24. The Washington County Visitors Association is organizing the Tualatin Valley Cocktail Week, which will feature an array of new, specially-crafted cocktails at various bars and restaurants throughout the region.
