Cascade East Transit Will Begin Requiring Riders Have a CET GO pass - The Source - Bend, Oregon (bendsource.com) — Starting February 1, Cascades East Transit riders in Bend and across Central Oregon will need a new CET GO pass to ride fixed, flex, connector buses and Dial-a-Ride. January pop-up events, including at the Downtown Bend Library, will help residents enroll and learn the new system. A new Community Movement Fund will also subsidize passes for low-income riders.

Attempted security breach of Deschutes Public Library patched; libraries reopen (centraloregondaily.com) — If you rely on the Deschutes Public Library in Bend, all branches and online services are back open after a three-day shutdown to patch an attempted network security breach. Officials say no patron personal data was compromised, late fees were waived, and Monday’s busy downtown branch showed how eager Bend readers were to return.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend honors Whitney Eskelson's 15 Years of Service with New Youth Empowerment Fund (ktvz.com) — Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend is celebrating longtime staff leader Whitney Eskelson by launching the Whitney Youth Empowerment Fund to help local families afford club programs. Community members are invited to donate or give $15 monthly in honor of her 15 years of service supporting Bend kids’ safety, confidence, and growth.

DECISION 2026: Deschutes County Interim Sheriff Files Paperwork to Run in the May election (ktvz.com) — Deschutes County’s interim sheriff, Ty Rupert, has officially filed to run for the elected sheriff position, announcing his campaign from Bend on his late father’s birthday. After 19 weeks in the interim role, he’s emphasizing rebuilding trust, transparency, and accountability in the sheriff’s office as voters prepare to decide in 2026 whether he keeps the job.

DECISION 2026: Deschutes County Assessor Scot Langton won't seek re-election, endorses Deputy Director Tana West for post (ktvz.com) — Deschutes County Assessor Scot Langton, based in Bend, is retiring in January 2027 and won’t seek re-election in 2026, and he’s backing longtime deputy director Tana West to succeed him. West, a Bend-connected property tax veteran, has already filed to run and is emphasizing continuity, technology upgrades, and training new staff to manage Oregon’s complex tax laws.
