• OSAA flips decision, approves new classification system with 6A/5A hybrid leagues (oregonlive.com) — Corvallis High School will stay in the Mid-Willamette Conference under OSAA’s newly approved 2026–30 classification plan, which also introduces a 6A/5A Midwestern Hybrid league. Local fans can expect familiar regional matchups to continue, while statewide shuffling of several schools and leagues could change playoff paths and travel for many Oregon teams.
   

• Yuletide kissers, smooch without guilt: Research suggests your mistletoe didn't harm its tree host • Highway 58 Herald (highway58herald.org) — Corvallis shows up in new Oregon State University research finding that western oak mistletoe isn’t noticeably harming urban trees, even when infestations look heavy. Scientists surveyed non-native trees in Corvallis and six other western Oregon cities, discovering most infected trees were oaks and still in good condition, easing worries that holiday mistletoe harvesting encourages tree damage.
