The commission reviews changes to historic properties within the Urban Growth Boundary and advises on preservation policy, giving one downtown owner a direct voice in balancing heritage, tourism, and economic vitality.
   

• Driver arrested after fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 99 in Jackson County (nbc16.com) — Several Grants Pass residents were involved in a deadly crash Sunday night on Highway 99 near Rogue River, where a local driver allegedly struck a pedestrian pushing a go-kart and then left the scene. One Grants Pass man riding on the go-kart suffered minor injuries, while the pedestrian died, and the Grants Pass driver was later arrested on DUII, manslaughter, and hit-and-run charges.
