Gresham Man Involved In Fatal Crash On Hwy 26 By Warm Springs

Oregon State Police say that 65-year-old Lanny Hawley's truck crossed the line , causing a head-on crash. The other driver died.

GRESHAM, OR – A man from Gresham was driving a truck on Highway 26 near Warm Springs when it crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on. The other driver died.

It happened around 5:30 on Tuesday.

OSP says that 65-year-old Lanny Hawley of Gresham was driving his red 2000 Ford E-350 when for "reasons unknown," he crossed the center line into westbound traffic and struck a black 2016 GMC Terrain.

The driver of that truck, 52-year-old Kyle Estes of Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hawley was in critical condition and airlifted to a hospital in Bend..

OSP was assisted by the Warm Springs Police Department, Oregon Department of Transportation, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation, which closed the highway for six hours.
