Police Issue 18 Tickets, Make 2 Arrests During 4-Hour Operation
The pedestrian safety operation conducted between 3 and 7 p.m. Thursday is one of many the department will perform this summer.

GRESHAM, OR — Gresham police on Thursday issued 18 citations and made two arrests during a pedestrian safety operation along East Powell Boulevard, officials announced Friday.
Between 3 and 7 p.m. June 20, officers with the Gresham Police Department conducted targeted patrols around East Powell Boulevard and Northeast Liberty Avenue. The focus of the operation was education and enforcement of Oregon's pedestrian laws.
"The department is hoping to raise pedestrian safety awareness for drivers and pedestrians through education and enforcement of pedestrian right-of-way laws," police officials said in a statement. "Additional missions will be scheduled during the summer and again in September, as the new school year begins."
