Hillsboro Bank Robber ID'd By Police
Diego Sanchez-Lopez was reportedly captured minutes after robbing a Well Fargo in Hillsboro Monday with help from 2 civilians.

HILLSBORO, OR — Hillsboro police on Monday identified the alleged bank robber who was caught with help from two civilians just minutes after robbing a Wells Fargo at knife point.
Diego Angel Sanchez-Lopez, 23, was taken to Washington County Jail following his arrest Monday. He is charged with robbery and unlawful use of a weapon. His bail is set at $25,750.
According to Hillsboro Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Bunday, Officers were initially dispatched just before 10:30 a.m. April 30 to a robbery at Wells Fargo, 7200 N.E. Butler St. According to witnesses, Sanchez-Lopez entered the bank, pulled out a knife and demanded money from a teller.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, Sanchez-Lopez ran from the bank, Bunday said.
Two men who were at the bank during the robbery reportedly chased Sanchez-Lopez and were able to flag down responding officers near Northeast Butler Street and Northeast Century Boulevard, about a quarter-mile west of the bank.

Sanchez-Lopez was subsequently arrested without incident less than five minutes after the robbery was originally called in, Bunday said.
