This year, Hillsboro Reads invites the community to explore the impact and experience of houselessness through two selections, Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century, by Jessica Bruder and No Fixed Address, by Susin Nielsen.

Both books are timely as the region grapples with a growing number of individuals, families, and children experiencing houselessness. They are also deeply personal, breaking through the stereotypes of housing insecurity and revealing just how close many housed people are to experiencing houselessness themselves. “Many of us are just one paycheck away,” says Library Supervisor Katy Pretz.
