HillsDOer Day: Sign Up Now To Volunteer

The 4th annual HillsDOer Day community volunteer event seeks at least 200 volunteers to help with 5 different projects around the city.

HILLSBORO, OR — Want to give back to your community? Sign up for the fourth annual HillsDOer Day volunteer event, coming up on Oct. 6.

Volunteers from the community are needed to lend a hand to one of five different projects taking place around the city. From landscaping work at a maternity home and at Rood Bridge Park to beautifying downtown or helping turn a parking lot into a playground, community members have their choice of projects to join.

"HillsDOer Day is about coming together and taking ownership of our community," city officials said on Hillsboro-Oregon.gov. "It’s about giving back, getting to know our neighbors, and embracing our hometown pride. It’s about creating an involved, civically-engaged community where every day is a HillsDOer Day."

A box lunch will be provided to every volunteer who participates, thanks to Hillsboro's Sonrise Church congregation, city officials said.

The city reportedly hopes to see upward of 200 volunteers join the event this year. In 2017, volunteers helped with eight projects around the city, which included sprucing up the Hillsboro Boys & Girls Club, landscaping at the M&M Swap Meet, cleaning up various neighborhoods, repacking food at the Oregon Food Bank, and revitalizing a church playground.
