Jungle Room Robber Indicted: Sheriff

Diego Sanchez-Lopez is accused of robbing the Jungle Room in Cornelius at knifepoint last December, escaping with more than $3,000.

CORNELIUS, OR — The man suspected of robbing the Jungle Room in Cornelius at knifepoint this past December was indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury last month on charges of robbery, theft, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Diego Angel Sanchez-Lopez, 23, is currently being detained on a U.S. Marshal's hold in Multnomah County. He is ineligible for bail.

Sanchez-Lopez was reportedly arrested by Hillsboro police in connection with a different armed robbery in late May. That charge has been dismissed, according to court records, so Sanchez-Lopez can be tried for his alleged crimes in a U.S. District Court — which apparently include the robbery in Cornelius that occurred Dec. 16, 2017.

If convicted of the robbery charge alone, Sanchez-Lopez could be sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
