Mobile Home Destroyed; No Injuries Reported: FG Fire & Rescue
A dryer fire at the Rose Grove Mobile Home Community Monday morning left 1 residence a total loss, according to Forest Grove Fire & Rescue.
FOREST GROVE, OR — A fire that reportedly started in a clothes dryer ultimately destroyed a single-wide mobile home in Forest Grove Monday morning. No injuries were reported, but the home and all its contents are considered a total loss, fire authorities said.
Forest Grove Fire & Rescue firefighters were dispatched just before 11 a.m. Aug. 6 on the report of sparks and smoke coming from a clothes dryer inside a home at the Rose Grove Mobile Home Community at 3839 Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove. When firefighters arrived at the scene there was no immediate evidence of fire, but that reportedly changed moments later.
Seconds after the first fire truck arrived light smoke began coming from the roofline of the mobile home, Fire & Rescue spokesman Matt Johnston said, adding that the smoke rapidly grew darker as firefighters pushed their way into the home.

Inside, crews found fire coming from a bedroom. It was quickly extinguished, but heat from the fire and the 90-plus degree conditions in Forest Grove Monday contributed to an overall drain on the firefighters, who reportedly required more breaks than normal while battling the dryer blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Johnston said.

"Forest Grove Fire & Rescue wants to remind everyone to have a working smoke alarm in their house, inside each bedroom, outside sleeping areas and on each floor is optimal," Johnston advised.
