Sex Offender Mission Yields 37 Arrests: Sheriff

A total 775 sex offenders were checked for compliance with Oregon and Federal law over a 3-week mission in August.

HILLSBORO, OR — A sex offender compliance check last month resulted in the arrest of nearly 40 people, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Out of 775 checks, 57 sex offenders were out of compliance.

The three week compliance check process ran from Aug. 13 to Sept. 5. Working with the U.S. Marshals Service, highly trained Washington County deputies assigned to the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) tracked and checked known sex offenders in the area for full compliance with Oregon and federal laws and registration requirements.

Of the 57 offenders deemed out of compliance, 12 were arrested. Another 25 individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants, which stemmed from a two-day arrest warrant enforcement mission that was conducted concurrently with the sex offender check.
