Teen Killed At House Party Shooting: Sheriff

Fermin Alonso-Alonso, 18, of North Plains, died from gunshot wounds he received at a house party in Hillsboro early Sunday.

HILLSBORO, OR — An 18-year-old North Plains man was killed in a fatal shooting early Sunday in the Rock Creek area north of Hillsboro. Washington County Sheriff's deputies were reportedly unable to locate the suspect during a search of the area immediately following the shooting.

The sheriff's office Sunday evening identified the slain teen as Fermin Alonso-Alonso, a recent Glencoe High School graduate, according to a GoFundMe campaign setup by Adrian Tenorio — apparently to help offset burial costs.

Deputies were dispatched to the 17700-block of Northwest Connett Meadow Court just after 12:45 a.m. Sept. 30 after receiving reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Initially, law enforcement was told someone was shot during an altercation at a large party, sheriff's officials said in a statement.

Deputies searched the area for the shooter, who was said to have fled the party immediately after the shooting, but the search was unsuccessful.

No suspect information has been released at this time.

On Monday, WCSO spokesman Deputy Jeff Talbot said the home where the party took place was an Airbnb rental. After word got out on social media there was a party happening, dozens — if not hundreds — of people showed up, Talbot said, noting revelers came from as far south as Keizer and as far north as Washington.

Because of the wide spectrum of people present, investigators are requesting to review any and all cell phone video and/or images from the event. Additionally, anyone who was at the party or who may have more information about who was involved in the fight that precipitated the shooting is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2700.

On Tuesday, Airbnb spokeswoman Laura Rillos provided the following statement:

We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. The safety of our community is our priority. We have permanently banned this guest from our platform, we have offered our assistance to local law enforcement and we are fully supporting our host. To date, there have been over 400 million guest arrivals in Airbnb listings; negative incidents are extremely rare.
