Walk and Roll Challenge Winner Announced!

In May 2021, the City of Hillsboro Safe Routes to School program hosted its first virtual SRTS Walk and Roll Challenge & Raffle for students living in Hillsboro or going to Hillsboro School District schools. The event was open for students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade.

Students participated in this event by completing a brief pedestrian training, doing a walk or roll themed art piece, and walking and rolling around town to finish extra activities. The goal of this challenge was to help students learn pedestrian safety and use this knowledge to walk and roll around our community safely.

Once the event closed, staff randomly selected a raffle winner from a list of students who completed the challenge.

The City of Hillsboro is pleased to announce that Julissa from McKinney Elementary is the lucky winner of the bike and helmet provided by WashCo Bikes!

To show the City’s appreciation for their efforts, participants who provided an address received a thank you letter, stickers, and a treat card from Chick-fil-A Tanasbourne.

Thank you to all those who participated in the contest! We are delighted to see students walking and rolling in our beautiful city.

This event was made possible with support from Metro, the Federal Transit Administration, WashCo Bikes, and Chick-fil-A Tanasbourne.
