Watch: Truck Hits Gas Station In North Plains
A 19-year-old gas station attendant was injured when a 1974 Ford slammed into the front of the North Plains ARCO Thursday night.
NORTH PLAINS, OR — A gas station attendant was seriously injured Thursday night when a driver reportedly lost control of his truck and drove right into the side of the ARCO station in North Plains, striking and rolling over the gas station employee.
The attendant, a 19-year-old man, suffered a broken ankle, concussion and multiple lacerations, Washington County Sheriff's officials said. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Two North Plains police officers were reportedly at the Northwest Glencoe Road ARCO station around 7 p.m. July 12 when a black 1974 Ford F-350 pickup — flying a red flag depicting a grim reaper — rolled into the parking lot and continued rolling right into the front doors of the station.

Standing outside the store, one of the officers was able to avoid the collision; the employee standing near the front doors, however, could not get out of the way before the truck slammed into him.
Driving the Ford was a 23-year-old man. He reportedly told responding Washington County deputies he knew the brakes on the truck were faulty but hadn't gotten around to getting them fixed.

Neither the truck's driver nor his 20-year-old female passenger were injured.
Police reportedly believe impairment, as well as the faulty brakes, were factors in the crash.
