• Search suspended for 26-year-old Bend climber missing on Mount Hood (statesmanjournal.com) — Search efforts led by the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office for a missing Bend climber on Mount Hood have been suspended after days of dangerous weather and poor visibility. Local rescuers, including the Hood River Crag Rats, used aircraft and phone data to scour high-elevation terrain, but officials say any future operations would likely be recovery-focused rather than rescue.
   

• Flood watch affecting Oregon from Thursday to Saturday caused by intense rainfall (oregonlive.com) — Residents in the Upper Hood River Valley and the Columbia River Gorge I-84 corridor are under a National Weather Service flood watch from early Thursday through early Saturday due to potentially intense rainfall and runoff. The alert warns of possible river and creek flooding, landslides, and dangerous travel, and urges people in flood‑prone or steep‑slope areas to prepare now, follow any evacuation orders, and avoid driving or walking through floodwaters.
   

• OSAA flips decision, approves new classification system with 6A/5A hybrid leagues (oregonlive.com) — Oregon’s activities association has finalized new school sports classifications for 2026-30, placing Hood River in the East Metro Conference alongside several Portland-area schools. These shifts could change travel, rivalries, and playoff paths for local athletes, with football-specific decisions still to come from an OSAA committee meeting later this week.
