Local standouts like Alisha Yallup, Brinley Holyan, and Marlee Simmelink led the way, while sophomore Riley Holyan suffered a knee injury that early reports say should not end her season.
   

• Best Small Project: North Unit Irrigation District (NUID) 43 Lateral Segment 2 Piping Project (enr.com) — A $9.8 million irrigation piping upgrade based in Madras is replacing more than six miles of leaky open canals with modern HDPE pipe, sharply cutting water loss. The project, which crosses Highway 97, boosts reliability for nearly 60,000 acres of farmland in the Deschutes River Basin and required careful traffic control and tough-weather construction to be ready for spring irrigation.
   

• Award of Merit, Small Project: Round Butte Dam Spillway Tunnel Aerator (enr.com) — Engineers recently completed a complex spillway tunnel aerator upgrade at Round Butte Dam in Madras, improving protection against cavitation damage during high-flow events. Working 200 feet down a steep tunnel, crews used custom scaffolding, remote-controlled demolition, and extensive grouting to stabilize the sandstone and safely install one of the few retrofit aerators of its kind in the U.S.
