Improve Oregon City Roadways, Online

The Oregon City Public Works department needs additional funding for highway improvements. Find out how you can help.

The Oregon City Public Works department is in need of funding for a road improvement project that would enhance Molalla Avenue between Beavercreek Road and Hwy. 213.

The City has requested $3,985,379, in addition to the 4$ million dollars that will bring the project total to $7,985,379. A few of the benefits of the project, once completed are crosswalks at transit stops, storm water quality facilities, more benches and trashcans and reconstruction of potholed pavement and poorly constructed sidewalks.

"Access to transit is vital including complete sidewalks and safe crossings. This project will benefit more than 1,900 weekly riders with safer and easier access to transit," said Steve Kautz, TriMet Clackamas Liason.

For parents in Oregon City, the project is important because it will increase the safety of the routes to and from school with Oregon City High School, Gaffney Lane Elementary School and Gardiner Middle School.

The project will increase both pedestrian and bike traffic and will accommodate issues that the elderly have with navigating streets and sidewalks in Oregon City as they currently exist. The project will also increase the ease with which people in Oregon City will be able to complete essential tasks without automobiles, like getting groceries, going to the doctor and similar errands.

From now until November 7th, you can leave comments online via the grant application on their interactive map.
