Oregon COVID-19 Numbers Climb, Hospitalizations Climb As Well

Oregon is probably less than day away from passing 500,000 total cases since the pandemic began.

PORTLAND, OR — Hospitalizations continue rising across Oregon as the omicron-driven surge maintains its grip on the state. The Oregon Health Authority says that 8,760 new cases were reported on Tuesday along with 31 new deaths.

There have now been 494,945 total cases and 5,845 deaths since the pandemic began.

Oregon will likely pass 500,000 on Thursday.

OHA adds that there are 756 people in the hospital as a result of COVID-19 29 more than the day before. It's still significantly below the peak during last summer's surge.

The 8,760 new cases were spread across 35 of the state's 36 counties.
