The Oregon Trail Named Finalist for World Video Game Hall of Fame

Inductees will be named in ceremony in May.

The game, which has been played by generations of Oregon school children (and kids around the word), has been named one of 15 finalists to make it into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.

It has been praised as not only a fun game but one that teaches history.

Other nominees include The Sims, Space Invaders, John Madden Football, and Minecraft.

The inductees will be announced at a ceremony on May 5.

The Hall of Fame is run by the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. It has more than 55,000 items in its collection.

The museum started the hall of fame in 2015.

The first games to be inducted were: Tetris, Pong, Super Mario Brothers, Doom, Pac-Man, and World of Warcraft
